Om Ah Ram Pah Dhih

I don’t want to go overly in depth on the meaning of Bijas (as they tend to go beyond meaning) so we’ll just hit the key points of why they are there and how to make this more effective when chanting.

Sit in a comfortable meditation posture with your spine straight.

When chanting the Mantra visualize a bright white light ‘turning on’ in the following chakras as you chant. See them stay on as you go from top to bottom (we’ll get to that) and when you start the mantra anew see ‘all the lights turn off’ then light up again as you chant the seed syllables.

Ajna (Third Eye Chakra) – Om
This is to invoke the qualities of perfection and mirror-like wisdom.

Vishuddha (Throat Chakra) – Ah
This is to invoke the healing qualities of the wisdom of emptiness.

Anahata (Heart Chakra) – Ram
This is to invoke the just qualities of discriminating wisdom.

Manipurna (Solar Plexus Chakra) – Pah
To banish Maras and Kleshas (Unwholesome states of mind/being) from our center and purify our mind/body/speech in conjunction with the other Bijas

Muldahara (Root Chakra) – Dhih
Plants the seed of enlightenment, nourishes Bodhicitta and creates a stable spiritual foundation inside and out by basing your ‘kingdom’ on the pure principles of enlightenment and purification. That is why we place it here at Muldahara, the Root.

This is, in fact, a six-syllable mantra, the last syllable being silence and emptiness.
